Throughout history, artistic expression has been central to the cultures of oppressed peoples. It tells our stories, holds us together when cruelty threatens to tear us apart, and shows us our worth when we are told we have so little. From Dandridge and Micheaux, Henson to DuVernay, the work of Black actors, writers, and filmmakers continues to be an immense source of pride and veneration for the Black community.

Over the course of Black History Month — and far beyond — VIMEO is featuring amazing work from the there'e community created by or featuring Black artists, including our Black History Month channel, which you can now follow. We’ll also be turning the spotlight on some incredible creators through a series of Q&As.
